Supply Chain & Transportation USA’s Inaugural Year a Huge Success

10 Apr 2014

NORWALK, CT, April 10, 2014 – Supply Chain & Transportation USA (SCT USA), the premier trade event and educational program dedicated to the transportation needs of supply chain executives, was held March 17-20, 2014 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. Show attendees numbered at over 3,900, with upwards of 1,200 participating in the conference program. This unique opportunity for industry experts to connect with vendors, suppliers and service champions, while receiving the latest information on innovations and integrated solutions for transporting freight, made SCT USA an especially compelling event.

Anticipation was at an all-time high over new technologies and transportation advances with a vast array of service solutions and demonstrations on the Show Floor. Buyers had the opportunity to connect and network with leading suppliers displaying the latest solutions such as APL Logistics, BLG Logistics LCC, Con-way Freight, DB Schenker, Delta Cargo, FedEx Custom Critical, Manhattan Associates, Old Dominion Freight Line Inc, Panalpina Inc. and UPS®, to name a few.

Industry professionals were provided a three-day program of comprehensive transportation/logistics education with more than 30 sessions, case studies and panel discussions as well as three keynote presentations, including the well-received “A Conversation with Lee Scott” former Walmart CEO.

The INTTRA panel discussion, “The Collaborative Network: Succeeding in a New Era of Supply Chain Visibility”, brought together logistics leaders to examine how collaborative e-commerce networks and digital technologies are setting a new pathway toward true end-to-end supply chain shipment visibility. An additional widely attended and highly-regarded session entitled “Trends in Omni-Channel Retailing” featured Randy Strang Vice President at UPS® who discussed the mindboggling array of possibilities, opportunities and threats digital technology brings for traditional retailers with Omni-channel retailing. Strang’s presentation garnered significant attendance and is still in active discussion remotely among audience members.

“We’re thrilled with the signs of industry optimism that were evident at the inaugural Supply Chain & Transportation USA event. We saw a high demand for transportation and logistical sourcing with a higher number of open industry developments fueling an impressive attendance at our first event in the U.S.,” noted Laurent Noel, Vice President Transportation & Logistics, Reed Exhibitions. “We at SCT USA will continue to bring insightful and critical information to our future attendees, and we look forward to seeing all at our next edition.”

Thanks in large part to the collocation of events like MODEX 2014 and the Georgia Logistics Summit, Supply Chain & Transportation USA’s inaugural year was a huge success with the combination of events dubbed as the largest international expo of its kind held in North America.
